Chanel No. 5 is the most famous perfume in the world and was created in 1921. At that time, Coco Chanel asked renowned perfume designer Ernest Beaux to create an exciting new fragrance for women that would match the image of the company she had founded. The designer presented Coco with several fragrances to choose from, and she liked sample number 5 best – the name remained unchanged. In 1986, Jacques Polge reinterpreted the composition of his predecessor Ernest Beaux and created a fuller, more voluminous version of the timeless women's fragrance: Eau de Parfum.

At the time of its release, No. 5 was a revolutionary perfume – while all previous fragrances focused on the scent of a single flower, this rule was broken and a rich olfactory bouquet was created: rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang from the Comoros were combined with synthetically derived aldehydes, which intensified and highlighted the floral scent. It was a breakthrough in perfume making, art and technology all in one!

Coco Chanel herself was the first to use this perfume, and actresses Catherine Deneuve and Carole Bouquet also appreciated its charm. When asked what she wore to bed, Marilyn Monroe simply replied: Chanel No. 5. Even today, it is synonymous with beauty, elegance and chic...
